- Disco Saturday Night
-
Disco Saturday Night was a radio station show on 104.3 FM in Los Angeles, California which consisted of approximately 9 hours of nonstop disco music (6pm-3am) every Saturday night. The show's usual host was Mark Kriski who also works for KTLA 5 The CW. Along with Mark Kriski, the show had a DJ named DJ Ray Rhodes.
On March 28–30, a special event called "My Major-Mix Disco Weekend" was held to promote a concert called Disco Fever. For this reason, the radio station was giving away free tickets to Disco Fever.
104.3 MYfm aired the final Disco Saturday Night program on Saturday, August 23, 2008 ending a run of over 14 years of consecutive Disco Saturday Night shows. The show was replaced with the program 8 Hours Of 80's, which runs from 6pm - 2am every Saturday night.
104.3 FM, which was known for many years also as "K-BIG", lost many of its loyal listeners when Disco Saturday Night was discontinued as the station also tried to draw a younger, more "hip" audience. Hosts and DJs began to use phrases like "what's up" and "shout out", which did not appeal to their mature audience, most of whom began listening to rival stations like KOST, 103.5 FM and 93.1 KCBS (Jack) FM.
