The 2006 Florida gubernatorial election took place on November 7, 2006. Governor Jeb Bush was term-limited, and could not run for re-election. Republican Charlie Crist, the state's Attorney General, won the election for Governor of Florida.

Democrats

Jim Davis won the Democratic primary on September 5 with 48% of the vote. [http://www.local10.com/politics/9729488/detail.html] Davis was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives representing Florida's 11th congressional district, and was once the majority leader of the Florida House of Representatives. On September 13th, Davis selected former State Senator & 2002 Gubernatorial candidate Daryl Jones of Miami as his running mate.

Charlie Crist, the Republican candidate, won the primary on September 5 with 64% of the vote. Voter turnout for a midterm election statewide at an all time high of 46.6% currently. Several Counties have not counted all their absentee votes as of yet, Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Pinellas. The most noticed missing votes are provisional which are outstanding from the majority of counties statewide.
