During the 1960s, Moorhouse was associated with the
Sydney Push — a progressive group of artists, writers and intellectuals. He was also a member of theWEA Film Study Group with such notable people asJohn Flaus ,Michael Thornhill andKen Quinnell . After some time working for rural NSW newspapers, Moorhouse moved to thebohemian inner-Sydney suburb ofBalmain , which was to become a central setting of much of his work.He announced at Sydney's
