Robert L. "Bob" Geddins (
6 February 1913 -16 February 1991 ) was an American Bay Areablues andrhythm and blues musician andrecord producer . He was born in Highbank, a small town 10 miles south ofMarlin, Texas , came toOakland, California duringWorld War II and worked there until his death in 1991.From 1948 onwards he founded and owned numerous small independent record labels such as Art-Tone, Big Town, Cavatone, Down Town, Irma, Plaid, Rhythm, and Veltone. He also leased his recordings to Los Angeles record companies as Swing Time, Aladdin, Modern, Special, Imperial, Fantasy, and even to the Chicagoan Checker label.
Many tunes often mistakenly attributed to other artists were either written or co-written by Bob Geddins, e.g. “Tin Pan Alley“, “
