Bluetree is an Irish
Contemporary Christian Music (CCM)/Christian rock band signed to Fierce! Records. This band is known for its hit song, "God of this City", which was vaulted into international popularity when it was covered byChris Tomlin on the "" album.Band History
Bluetree originated at Strandtown Christian Fellowship church in 2003. [ [http://www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/radioulster/sunday_sequence/ Bluetree Interview] ] According to lead singer, Aaron Boyd, Bluetree was born out of frustration. "I was frustrated with the idea that worship is only to do with your heart. I don't really agree with that. It's bigger than just your heart attitude towards something. Like the idea that music can be secondary and as long as you love Jesus, that's fine! I don't think that's right." Bluetree originally consisted of Boyd, Jordan, McCann and Bleakley, for Comfort and Kernoghan joined later. Ireland] ] While the band was travelling on a missions trip to Pattaya, Thailand, the poor conditions of said city became the inspiration for their hit song, "God of this City". As an independent band, they recorded their debut album, "Greater Things", at the Windmill Lane Studios (U2's preferred studio).
