California andBaja California . This is a small perennial herb producing usually only a single leaf from an unbranchedcaudex . The leaf is round or kidney-shaped and has a ruffled, lobed edge. The plant flowers in fall, producing a naked brown peduncle holding a smallinflorescence of fewer than four flowers. The tiny flower has purplish-veined petals each about half a centimeter long. The fruit is a brown-striped green or tan capsule.External links
