It would provide
Park and Ride facilities, with a large car park. [ [http://www.networkwestmidlands.co.uk/train/Rail%20Development%20Strategy.pdf NWM Plans] ]It would have 2 platforms on the existing double tracked line.
History
There was a station called Fernhill Heath not far from the site of the proposed station. However, it was axed in the 1960s.
A new station was first suggested in the 1970s (at Norton), but it was rejected due to cost. Although Worcestershire County Council supports the reopening of a station as part of the Second Worcestershire Local Transport Plan (LTP2), Worcestershire County Council's key rail priority is Worcestershire Parkway (Norton), so it not expected that a station will be reinstated at Fernhill Heath over the next decade.
