- Espen Barth Eide
Espen Barth Eide (born
1 May 1964 ) is a Norwegian political scientist and politician for the Labour Party.He graduated from the
University of Oslo with thecand.polit. degree in 1993. The same year he was hired as a researcher at theNorwegian Institute of International Affairs , in the United Nations Programme. He became leader of this programme in 1996, later working as an advisor for the panels on "Threats, Challenges and Change" and "Report on Integrated Missions". In 2002 he became leader of the International Politics department at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs.During the
first cabinet Stoltenberg , from 2000 to 2001, Barth Eide was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. When thesecond cabinet Stoltenberg assumed office following the 2005 elections, Barth Eide again became State Secretary, this time in the Ministry of Defence.Since 2001 he is a board member of the
Party of European Socialists . He has also been active in theEuropean Movement and theWorld Economic Forum .References
