Anelosimus is a genus of tangle-foot spiders (Theridiidae) described by Eugène Simon, in 1891, from Venezuela, to include the South American social spider "Anelosimus eximius" and related species.

A colony of A. eximius social spiders in the Amazon forest is a wonder of nature and a show-stopper for the naturalist or eco-tourist. The capture strands of the colony's web can reach 8 m into the canopy, and the basket-like retreat at 30 to 150 cm above the ground can be up to 3 m in diameter. A colony may house more than 1000 spiders.
