Baseball

Base Set

In 1987 O-Pee-Chee licenced version of the Topps set. It was basically identical to the Topps set, however it only had 396 cards instead of the 792 in the Topps set and had the Topps branding replaced with O-Pee-Chee branding. The cards were printed on lighter grey cardstock, featured bilingual backs, and some had added traded lines. The Topps All-Star Rookies subset is featured, however the Topps name is removed from the trophy graphic on the cards and replaced with the O-Pee-Chee logo. Manager cards for the Montreal Expos and Toronto Blue Jays were issued. Each card had a wood grain background, and player cards had a team logo within a circle in the upper-left corner, the player name within a colored box in the lower-right corner and the Topps logo in the lower-left corner. For the first time since 1972, the player's position did not appear on the front of the card. Size: 2-1/2 X 3-1/2 in.

Wax Box Cards

The "Box Bottom" cards were actually on the bottom of the box and featured 4 to a box on the bottom of two separate wax pack boxes. This is unlike the 1987 Topps where the cards were placed on the side of the box of which there were 4 different boxes for a total of 8 cards. They resemble the base cards except for having a career highlight on the back instead of full statistics and are smaller in size. The set is lettered A-H rather than numbered. Size: 2-1/8 X 3 in. when individually cut out.
