Holden Royale

The Holden Royale may refer to a number of automobiles produced by the Australian subsidiary of General Motors, Holden over the years:

* 1984–1987, badge engineered Holden VK Calais, built and sold exclusively in New Zealand.
* 1987–1988, badge engineered Holden VL Calais, built and sold exclusively in New Zealand. The Royale differed from the Calais in the regard that it did not feature the Calais' unique headlamps and rear disc brakes. If keyless entry was specified it was fitted by Remac Components in Napier, New Zealand.
* 1989–1990s, stretch version (convert|1525|mm|in longer) of the Holden VN Calais. Jakab Industries initially undertook the conversion in Tamworth, New South Wales, until passing the job over to later Specialty Vehicles in Sydney. In total, 54 examples were built, with the majority of examples exported to right-hand drive Asia-Pacific markets for airline, rental and hotel use, with a even smaller number of sedans special made featuring custom and optional Calais options.
* 1995–1997, similar in specification to the Holden VS Calais, built and sold exclusively in New Zealand. Compared to the Calais, the Royale featured the front-end of the Holden VS Caprice and the 2.6 litre Opel V6 engine. An badge engineered version of this car was sold in Malaysia and Singapore as the Opel Calais.
