Irish National Teachers' Organisation

The Irish National Teachers' Organisation (INTO), in Irish Chumann Múinteoirí Éireann, is the largest trade union in Ireland for teachers, catering for primary school teachers in the Republic of Ireland. It also represents teachers from Northern Ireland through the Ulster Teachers' Union. Its headquarters are in Parnell Square, Dublin. The President currently is Declan Kelleher, while General Secretary at present is John Carr.

The INTO's origins date back to 1868 and by 1890 it had absorbed 71 local associations. As of 31 December 2007, the INTO claimed a membership of 29,645 in the Republic of Ireland and 6,108 in the UTU in Northern Ireland.
