Cosmic Web

Cosmic Web

The Cosmic Web is a scientific theory that purposes that the universe is bound by invisible threads of dark matter from the big bang

tructure

Scientists believe that if one could see the structure of the larger universe it would resemble a spider web with the "joints" made up of supercluster's and extending arms made up of smaller Galaxy groups and clusters, with massive space voids in between all the workings. Mapping Out

Scientists believe that the development of powerful new telescopes and computers will soon unravel the cosmic web in the coming years. [ [http://www.dawn.com/2008/01/04/int9.htm Computing power to unravel ‘cosmic web’ of universe -DAWN - International; January 04, 2008 ] ]

Discovery

Dutch scientists of the SRON have discovered parts of the cosmic web with a new telescopePress publication:

"XMM-Newton discovers part of the missing matter in the Universe A team of astronomers from SRON discovered part of the missing matter in the Universe using the European X-ray satellite XMM-Newton. The existence of the tenuous hot gas, which is believed to be located within the connecting threads of the enormous cosmic web, was predicted by theoreticians about 10 years ago.
