Honigman was born in
Russia in 1904 during the reign ofNicholas II , the lasttsar of Russia. Prior toWorld War I , he emigrated to theUnited States in 1911 with his mother. After arriving in the United States, he was reunited with his father who had emigrated at an earlier time. In 1916, the Honigman family moved toDetroit , Michigan.Law career
In 1926, he graduated from the
University of Michigan at the head of his class. Duringcollege , he worked for alaw firm headed by theGovernor of Michigan ,Alex Groesbeck . In 1948, withMilton J. Miller , he formed a law firm what is known today asHonigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn , which is located in theFirst National Building in the heart of downtown Detroit directly facingCampus Martius Park . He died at his home in
Beverly Hills, Michigan ofcongestive heart failure . He was 85 years old at the time of death.
