Akademi Fantasia, Season 2 debuted in June 7, 2004 and was the second season of "Akademi Fantasia" to be aired in Astro Ria. Unlike the first season, this season was opened for those who are staying in East Malaysia namely Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan.

Tirai Akademi Fantasia which was aired at the end of May and early June showcased 12 contestants who were chosen as the ultimate students to move into the house, called academy. This season also introduced a format which allowed students who were eliminated to be recruited into the academy again through audience votes.

The winner was 23 year old Ahmad Zahid Baharuddin from Kuala Lumpur.
