Toichi Kuroba

Toichi Kuroba (黒羽 盗一 , Kuroba Tōichi?) Voiced by: Shuuichi Ikeda

Kaito's father, Toichi was the previous Kid. He was a famous magician that everyone liked. He taught Kaito many magic tricks and to always use 'Poker Face' when he was little. When he was KID, both he and Booker Kudo A.K.A. Yusaku Kudo used to be rivals. Toichi died in an 'accident' while performing a trick, but Kaito finds out later that it was murder. Little was known about his past, except that he is a famous magician and taught Kaito many things. Although he has a wife, she doesn't appear that much in both Magic Kaitou nor Detective Conan. Shinichi had once taken his challenge as a kid, thinking that it should be a first case, unfortunately wasn't able to get the answer, however Booker had already found out what was the riddle. Toichi, as Kaitou Kid had clashed with Booker when both of their children are at the age of ten. As a magician, he taught two people in the art of disguise, Yukiko Kudo and Sharon Vineyard/Veromouth for their careers as an actress. During his job as Kaitou Kid, he faced the Black Organization. The members of the Black Order asked him to help them finding a special gem called Pandora. This gem was born inside another gem, and cried tears of immortality when the comet comes close to the Earth. After finding out what he is up against, Toichi turned down the offer, and started finding the Pandora himself. Feeling betrayed, Snake killed Toichi during one of his magic tricks. Making it look like an 'accident', Kaito was able to find out eight years later, what had happened to his father after discovering his father's secret room and with the help from Jii. From then Kaito had then taken up his father's mantle.
