"Farther Along" is a Southern Gospel song published by the Stamps-Baxter Music Company.

Theme

The song deals with a Christian's dismay at the apparent prosperity of the wicked, when contrasted with the suffering of the righteous. The repeated theme is that in Heaven, the truth will be revealed.

Copyright Status

The song was copywritten in 1937 as part of the "Starlit Crown" collection, and renewed in 1965. It is often erroneously thought of as a Folk Hymn or being in the Public Domain.

Notable covers

This song has been covered by a variety of artists. The Byrds covered it on their album of the same name. Numerous other artists have covered it including Elvis Presley.

A portion of the song was used on the television special, Why, Charlie Brown, Why?.
