The Radiological Society of North America, Inc. (RSNA) is a professional membership society committed to excellence in patient care through education and research. More than 41,000 medical imaging professionals are members of RSNA, including radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical physicists and allied scientists.

RSNA hosts the world’s largest annual medical meeting, which starts the last Sunday of November in Chicago. The society also publishes two highly respected peer-reviewed journals: the medical research journal [http://radiology.rsnajnls.org/ "Radiology"] and the freely accessible medical education journal [http://radiographics.rsnajnls.org/ "RadioGraphics"] .

The presidency of the RSNA is held as a one-year term. As of 2008, the president of the RSNA was Dr. [http://www.rsna.org/About/whoswho/mcloud.cfm Theresa C. McLoud] .

RadiologyInfo.org

[http://www.radiologyinfo.org RadiologyInfo.org] is the public information Web site developed and funded by the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the American College of Radiology (ACR). It was established to inform and educate the general public about what radiology is and what radiologists do. Approximately half a million people visit RadiologyInfo each month. The web site is available in English and Spanish.

RadiologyInfo is designed to answer patients’ questions related to the many radiologic procedures and therapies available. By visiting the site, patients and their families may gain a better understanding of the role of radiology in disease diagnosis and the many minimally invasive treatments available to them.

The Web site provides consumers with information regarding most common radiologic procedures including x-rays, standard and digital mammography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and radiation oncology. The site features detailed descriptions of more than 100 radiologic exams and treatments, along with a glossary of medical terms, still images, video and downloadable handouts.

In addition to explaining how each procedure is performed, RadiologyInfo addresses what patients may experience and how to prepare for the exams. The Web site describes many, but not all, radiologic procedures and therapies, and is updated frequently with new features added on a regular basis. The site also contains a section on radiation safety.

Each section of the site has been created with the guidance of a physician with expertise in the topic presented. All materials featured on the site have been reviewed, written and/or approved by a panel of radiology experts who are affiliated with ACR and RSNA, as well as other professional medical and radiology organizations. The site is free and does not accept advertising.

RSNA Career Connection

[http://www.rsna.org/career RSNA Career Connection] is a Web site for job seekers and employers. This job board has postings in all areas and sub-specialties of radiology. Currently, all classified ads posted on the Career Connection site are also published in the RSNA journal, "Radiology". Job seekers can post their resume for free, and employers may access the resume database once they have posted an ad. [Sourced from Career Connection Web site]
