Frampton-on-Severn is a
village inGloucestershire ,England . It lies on the east bank of theRiver Severn , approximately 10mile s (16 km) south ofGloucester , at gbmapping|SO750080. There is aparish council , consisting of nine members. The total population is around 1200. The village is linked byfootpath to theSharpness Canal .The
Domesday Book mentioned the manor of Frampton in 1089. Theparish church of St Mary the Virgin was consecrated in 1315 but partly dates from the 12th century, while thecongregational church was built in 1769.There is a large
village green , 22acre s (89,000 m²) in size and reputedly the longest in England.
