Jahar Dasgupta, born in
Jamshedpur (Tata Nagar ,Jharkhand ,India ) in 1942 is an artist. He completed his further studies in painting fromShantiniketan Kala Bhavan Biswa Bharati in 1964.Influences on his work include his teachers
Nandalal Bose andRamkinkar Baij . He is also influenced by the work ofBinod Behari Mukherjee .He was invited as a member of Millennium committee to organize an exhibition and workshop under
Biswa Banga Sammelan in 1999. He has participated inKalaMela organized by Lalit Kala Academy and theDemocratic Painters and Writers Association . He is Vice President of theAcademy of Fine Arts, Kolkata and a founder member ofSijuti Art Gallery .
