He has been a session musician playing drums for a large variety of artists and bands including recordings or performances withThe Young Dubliners ,Joan Osborne ,Days Between Stations ,Nels Cline ,Mike Watt ,Young MC ,Freebo ,Lee Sklar ,Geza X , Doug Pettibone,John Fumo ,Shelby Lynne and many others.Mattox owns Bright Orange Studios which is a high end
recording studio and music production facility, and also is president of Bright Orange Records which has released music from the following artists: Alpha Cat, Darryl Blood, The Conductors, Brian Cram,Days Between Stations , Simon Lynge, Jim Marcotte, Jon Mattox, One Trick Pony, Sue Paine, Jason Quicksall, 7K, Heather Stewart, Uni, Jason Whitton, Erinn Williams, Sterling Witt, andThe Young Dubliners .Composing
