Michael Francis Perham

Michael Francis Perham (born 1947) is the current Bishop of Gloucester; a post he has held since 2004.

Ministry

Perham was a curate at St Mary, Addington (Diocese of Canterbury) between 1976 and 1981, before becoming Chaplain to the Bishop of Winchester, John V. Taylor, between 1981 and 1984. He was also Secretary to the Church of England Doctrine Commission between 1979 and 1984.

He became Team Rector of the Oakdale Team Ministry in Poole in 1984; a post he relinquished in 1992 to become Canon Residentiary and Precentor of Norwich Cathedral. Perham became Provost of Derby in 1998 before being appointed Dean of Derby in 2000.

He was a member of the Liturgical Commission between 1986 and 2001, and thus "played a major part in the production of the Church of England's Common Worship.
