Symington, South Lanarkshire

Symington is a small village in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The nearest town is Biggar. Geographical features near Symington include Tinto Hill and the River Clyde. Symington has one shop, which includes a post office. Both The Tinto Hotel and Wyndales Hotel are situated near the village, and they both allow tourists to visit the village. Although Wyndales has now shut and is subject to re-development. Symington is located within commuter distance of both Glasgow and Edinburgh. The wine and whisky distribution company Inverarity Vaults can be found in Symington. Although small in size, Symington possesses two parks, both of which conatain swings and various other activities for children.

Currently, the village has one football club, Symington Tinto Amateur Football Club. Within this club, two amateur teams exist, who play in the Caledonian and Lanarkshire amateur football leagues respectively. There was formerly a golf course in Symington, but this has not been present for a number of years.

Education

Symington has a nursery and a primary school, Tinto Primary School. The pupils of Tinto Primary typically go on to Biggar High School.
