Lawrence Tremsky (b.
June 23 ,1956 ) is an American-born church organist and choirmaster. He was appointed Organist and Master of the Choirs at the Cathedral of the Incarnation inGarden City, New York in July 2000 where he is responsible for the entire choral program of boys, girls, men and women. He also serves as director/coordinator of the Cathedral’s ambitious concert series. In 2007 he was named Executive Director of the Montreal Boys’ Choir Course.A native of
Toledo, Ohio , he holds a B.M. degree in organ performance from theUniversity of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music from which he graduate Magna Cum Laude in 1979. He later attendedNorthwestern University inEvanston, Illinois where he earned an M.M. degree in 1983. His organ teachers have included Wayne Fischer and Grigg Fountain.Before assuming his duties at Incarnation, Mr. Tremsky held the position of Director of Music at Grace Episcopal Church,
Utica, New York from 1992-2000. From 1982-1992 he was Associate Organist/Choirmaster at Chicago’s Cathedral of the Holy Name where he served as assistant to Richard Proulx. His recording titles include “A Year of Grace”, featuring the Grace Church Choir (1996), and several other choral CDs.References
