Stutter bunny

History

Stutter Bunny are a Glasgow based female fronted rock band from Scotland, UK. Having formed in early 2004 as Eric and the Bunny Boilers they enjoyed a successful two years on the Scottish music scene before changing their name to Stutter Bunny in 2006. The sudden name change came with no explanation, and no change to the band line up of Michelle Martin - lead locals, guitar, Charlene McDonald - bass, Ally Bowie - keys, and Frank McGowan - drums. Fans of the bunnies believe the name change may have been to avoid confusion with Echo & the Bunnymen. Stutter Bunny are regarded by many as one of Scotland’s top rock bands.

As Eric and the bunny boilers, the bunnies toured the UK 2004-2005 appearing at some of the UK's top live music festivals and venues, including T In The Park, The Marquee Club, Reading Festival, and King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in their hometown of Glasgow.

Their first single was 2004's "Heard You Say", a limited edition 5 track EP which benefited from the promotional efforts of the band's own homegrown Evil Anne Records in Glasgow and extensive Radio 1 airplay.

In 2004 the band also performed on the new bands stage at T In The Park, wowing the audience and reviewers alike with their own mix of edgy and provocative 2 minute punk/pop songs. Over the next two years the band would appear and performed on numerous radio shows and live television, including live music shows on BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and York TV. The band also appeared live from T in the Park the following year, and on the main stage at Noise Festival in London.

In 2005 a limited number of the "Heard You Say" EP's were re-released in hard copy and digital download after response from fans, which secured the band a no1 in the BT Broadband New Music Chart for 8 weeks.

Recent reviews hail the bunnies as "the most exciting band to come out of Glasgow" - Noise Festival, and "Blondie for the new generation" - NME. The bunnies also recently emerged as winners of the Jack Daniels Sound Check.

Influences

Stutter Bunny's influences come from a range of quality artists, including Elastica, Nirvana, Placebo and The White Stripes. From these Brit-Pop, grunge and rock influences, the bunnies have concocted their own blend of catchy and infectious angst fueled dirty-groove pop songs that are reflective of their roots.

The bunnies notably feature on the 'Placebo: Androgyny DVD' as well as on the soundtrack to several short films and E-documentaries. Their new single The Psychopath Next Door is main title theme for new Scottish television crime drama series Ninety Eight Percent, starring Emma Ashby and Hannah Tiffin.

The Psychopath Next Door is set for release soon on the band’s own Evil Anne Records. It supplies a fast paced and energetic exploration into the mind of a serial killer; the track a clever follow up prequel to their debut release b-side track Autopsy (from their Heard You Say EP released as Eric and the Bunny Boilers), serving as a taster of what their forthcoming end of the year album has to offer.
