It is a Browser game with emphasis on trade and space combat.The game is currently in beta testing phase, and still in development.The main goal of the game is to gain wealth and develop the strongest ship in the game.When you are in possession of most powerful ship you can safely travel to any planet you desire, without the risk of being robbed.This is Multiplayer game so it is the goal to best other opponents, not just the pirates (the non-playing-warships).
Beside trading, players can buy ship modules and upgrade ships.
The construction setup of ships is flexible, allowing detailed customization to players.Ships are constructed from "modules" and as structural modules are added, additional space is added to add additional modules, such as a weapon system, shields, armor plates, and additional engines.Players also follow a number of "quests" which are single player stories. There are generally two types of quests:
Courier – When the player transports some amount of goods in a given time.
Bounty hunter type – When players set out to kill a certain pirate.

----Development
The game is still in development and players may experience bugs.
The developer of Galaxy Trader Michał Klimas is working constantly to get rid of them, as well as add new content to the game.
There are game features that has been added only on user request, eg “bounty quests” (The quests to get rid of pirates).
