The Wildhearts in December 2007)They signed to
Def American records, andRick Rubin produced their first album, "Live Fast, Die Fast ". They were the support act for Iron Maiden's UK tour at the time theirAll Hell's Breaking Loose Down at Little Kathy Wilson's Place EP was released. A second full albumDown Fall The Good Guys followed in 1991, giving them there only UK Chart entry withEzy charting at 68.Being an English band, signed to an American record label did not work out well and
Def American dropped the band as they felt they were not selling well enough. This did not stop the band being voted the UK's best unsigned act, by the time their live album, "Massive Noise Injection", was released in 1993 on the Bronze Company label. In 1994 the band released their most accomplished work to date, the self-titled
Wolfsbane , again on the Bronze Company label. However whenBruce Dickinson quitIron Maiden ,Blaze Bayley got the gig which pretty much put an end to Wolfsbane. The remaining members of Wolfsbane (Jeff Hateley, Jase Edwards and Steve 'Danger' Ellett) joined with Jez Spencer to form Stretch in 1995. They released a 6-track mini-album World of Stretch on the Cottage Industry label.
The band had a loyal fan base which they referred to as the HMS (Howling Mad Shitheads) which adourned many of the bands t-shirts.
On September 9th 2007 Wolfbane reunited for a one off short set at the Rock Of Ages Festival,
