Ellis Haizlip (c. 1930 -
January 25 ,1991 ) was anAfrican American theater and television producer. A 1954 graduate ofHoward University , he helped many artists progress in their careers, including actressAnna Maria Horsford and singers Nicholas Ashford and Valerie Simpson. He served as executive producer of thePublic Broadcasting Service television program "Soul! " from 1967 to 1973. He died oflung cancer in January 1991. [citation|last=Fraser|first=C.
