Seventh-day Adventist K-12private school located in Centerville,Ohio , one of 5,835 elementary, secondary, and higher educational institutions operated around the world by the Seventh-day Adventist church. Spring Valley Academy is chartered by the State of Ohio and is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Board of Regents of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The school is currently operated by six Seventh-day Adventist churches in the Dayton metropolitan area.History
Spring Valley Academy began in the mid 1960s when a group of physicians and businessmen met to discuss the future of Seventh-day Adventist education in the greater-Dayton area. The original Seventh-day Adventist school in this area, Dayton Junior Academy, was closed in 1968, and Spring Valley Academy began operation on nearly 50 acres of property in Washington Township.
Today, there are four divisions of the school: a home school division for an alternative educational program, the elementary division for students in grades K-5, the
middle school division for grades 6-8, and thehigh school division for grades 9-12. While the high school program is a standard college preparatory program, vocational education is available utilizing the joint vocational schools of Montgomery County or Warren County. In 1990 Spring Valley Academy became part of the auxiliary services program. Limited services are offered in the areas of psychological testing, speech and language diagnosis, therapy, school nursing, and tutorial/teaching for those with learning disabilities.See also
