Al Niemiec

Alfred Joseph Niemiec (May 18, 1911 - October 29, 1995) was a backup infielder in Major League Baseball, playing mainly at second base for the Boston Red Sox (by|1934) and Philadelphia Athletics (by|1936). Listed at 5' 11", 158 lb., Niemiec batted and threw right-handed. A native of Meriden, Connecticut, he attended College of the Holy Cross. In a two-season career, Niemiec was a .200 hitter (47-for-235) with one home run and 23 RBI in 78 games, including 24 runs, three doubles, two triples and 27 stolen bases.

Niemiec died at the age of 84 in Kirkland, Washington.

*January 4, 1936: Traded by the Boston Red Sox along with Hank Johnson (P) and cash to the Philadelphia Athletics in exchange for Doc Cramer (CF) and Eric McNair (SS).
*October 9, 1936: Purchased by the Baltimore Orioles of the International League from the Philadelphia Athletics.
