Grinds

"Grinds" is a Hiberno-English term for private tuition but also a major industry in Ireland. It is normally always plural, and it would be incorrect to use the word "Grind" as a verb or to refer to a single lesson.fact|date=April 2008

Grinds in Ireland, are a major component of educational life. A normal Irish student will have many of these "grinds" before sitting the two major state exams, the junior cert and the leaving cert. The term "grinds" is much less commonly used at university/college level, where third level students would more likely use the word extra tuition.fact|date=April 2008
