Advocacy

Potts founded Democracy Rising Pennsylvania in the wake of the 2005 Pennsylvania General Assembly pay raise controversy. The organization successfully helped pressure the Pennsylvania General Assembly to repeal the pay raise. He also led the campaign to defeat the retention of Pennsylvania Supreme Court Judge Russell M. Nigro.

The Philadelphia Inquirer named Potts one of the three "Citizens of the Year" in 2005. Common Cause Pennsylvania awarded him their "Public Service Achievement Award" in 2006
