Aengus Ó Maoláin got his first exposure with celtic vocal group
Anúna in 2003 and travelled the world performing with the group. He is a world-technique specialist and among other things ismultiphonic , utilising his own pitchedovertone technique based on theSyght ofTuva .In early 2005 Ó Maoláin formed the experimental
vocal group Bulraga with three singers of completely different disciplines to explore the interplay between their styles.Ó Maoláin has also recorded on the Double Bass, Guitar and Tin Whistle.
Composition
Aengus (as he perfers to be known rather than by his surname) has become known in
Ireland , theUnited Kingdom and theUSA as primarily a composer ofsacred choral music but his output is much more broad in instrumentation. "House Quintet", for fourelectric guitars andsaxophone , and "clunge/elegance" for fivedrummers are particularly different, as are the symphonic works "Tartü" and "The Wall"
