Jacob McArthur Mooney

Jacob McArthur Mooney (born August 9, 1983) is a Canadian poet.

Mooney was born in the village of Chester Basin, Nova Scotia and attended Memorial University of Newfoundland where he graduated in 2006 with a degree in psychology. It was during this period that he first started writing poems and became an active member of the local literature scene. Mooney moved to the Toronto area in 2006 to attend graduate school at the University of Guelph. He released his first collection of poems, The New Layman's Almanac, in 2008. The book, published by Toronto's McClelland & Stewart, is notable for its themes of self-education and for being the only collection of poetry ever dedicated to the Wikimedia Foundation. In addition to his poetry, Mooney is known as a writer of fiction and drama and as an editor at the webzine Thieves Jargon. He lives in Mississauga.
