Amanda McLaren

Amanda Ruth McLaren (born 16 January 1985) is an actress. She is represented by KSA Scotland [ [http://www.ks-ass.co.uk/index.html;jsessionid=09FE3474144C5511F683C9919BC472A7 | KSA :: Keddie Scott Associates ] ] She is noted for her versatility on stage, and has featured in a range of work from musical theatre, to Shakespeare and devised contemporary pieces.Her partner is director and playwright Charlie Shand.

Early life

Amanda was born in Leith, Edinburgh, to Stevie McLaren, a HR Training and Development Manager and Ruth Murray, a brain surgeon, she also has an older sister, Debbie Buckley - who is a primary school teacher and a trained Opera singer, and recently Amanda became an aunt to Debbie's first child, Samuel Steven, born in April 2008. Amanda spent most of her life in Edinburgh, except for a year, between the ages of nine and ten when her family moved to Calgary in Canada.fact|date=April 2008

Amanda was educated at the Royal High School, which is arguably Britain's oldest secondary school [ [http://www.royalhigh.edin.sch.uk/ The Royal High School, Edinburgh ] ] . While at school Amanda excelled at Drama, Music and Religious Education.

She then went on to train as an actress at the famous Rose Bruford College, in Greater London, which was where she met Shand. Amanda flourished during her time at Rose Bruford, and received interest from agents before she had graduated.

Career

Amanda's first major role was that of Bet in a touring production of "Oliver!" for which she received great critical acclaim.Her televisual début was as 'The Girl' in a Doritos advert.
