The Worshipful Company of Security Professionals (WCoSP)is one of the
Livery Companies of theCity of London . The company is a charitable organization providing education and health services to members of the security professional community. On 18th November 1999 Twelve Principle Founder members met to plan the creation of a working Guild. The first meeting with Sixty-two Founder Members took place on 27th March 2000 with SirNeil Macfarlane being elected Founder Master and with SirDavid Brewer , CMG LL(Lord Lieutenant ) of Greater London and Mr DeputyPhilip Willoughby as Sponsors. Progression to a Company without Livery occurred on 6th January 2004 when the Petition for recognition as aCity Company without Livery was recognised by theCourt of Aldermen .On the 15th January 2008 the Court of Alderman was petitioned and the Court declared that the Company became the 108th Livery Company of the City of London on the 19th of February, 2008. The 108th ranking is byOrder of Precedence , under which guidelines the Company is also classified as aModern Livery Company.Membership of the Company is drawn from the Security Industry in its widest sense and includes leading security professionals from the industrial and retail sectors, serving and retired members of the police and armed services, security consultants, academics, heads of security for corporate businesses, investigators and electronic surveillance companies.
