Stuart Freeborn (born
September 5 1914 , inLondon ,England ) is a British motion picturemake-up artist , perhaps best known for his work on the original "Star Wars " trilogy.He created the make-up for all of the characters, including
Yoda , whom he supposedly based on his own face and that ofAlbert Einstein . Freeborn was also the make-up artist onStanley Kubrick 's "", where he created the humans/apes for the "Dawn of Man" sequence.He also worked on Kubrick's "Dr.Strangelove ", handlingPeter Sellers ' multiple lead roles.He worked with Sellers in several other films,including "Heavens Above! " , "Mr. Topaze " and "Soft Beds Hard Battles".His wife Kay assisted her husband on several occasions;their son Graham was also a prolific make-up artist before his untimely death in 1986.
