The Cairngorm Club is the oldest mountain climbing club in
Scotland .Founding
In "Watson (1975)" the author writes that it was founded at "Clach Dhion - the Shelter Stone" above "Loch Avon" in the
Cairngorms on 24 June 1887. The club's own website records the same year (only), while "Alexander (1928)" gives the year (only) as being 1889.Cairngorm Club Journal
In "Alexander (1928)" the author writes that the "Cairngorm Club Journal" has been published since 1893, currently in its eleventh volume at his time of writing, and refers to many articles in the form : ("C.C.J.", vol. iii. p. 370). The first editor of the "CCJ" was "Alexander Inkson M'Connochie".
Each edition of the "CCJ" comprises a number of articles usually, but not always, focused on some aspect of the "Cairngorms" - for example:

The "Cairngorm Club" are responsible for the construction of many bridges throughout the "Cairngorms" including those over the "Luibeg Burn" at Preas nam Meirleach, and over the "River Dee" at
