In 2003, "Crain's New York Business" selected Poleman as one of their "Forty under 40" rising stars in business, and in 2005, "Billboard Radio Monitor" featured him as #1 in "Top 40's Top 40".

Tom Poleman is credited with bringing Z100 from #18 in the market to the top five,, doubling its ratings in two years, and making it the most listened-to top-40 station in the United States. He also brought all five New York City Clear Channel stations into the top 15.

Poleman was honored by the music industry AIDS charity LIFEbeat in June 2004 for his commitment to the organization, including a running a public service campaign with celebrity artists promoting HIV prevention.

Poleman is also Clear Channel's nationwide top 40 format brand manager and liaison for the company's 125 pop stations.
