According to the
United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 52.8square mile s (136.8km² ), of which, 52.8 square miles (136.7 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.06%) is water.Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 900 people, 331 households, and 249 families residing in the town. Thepopulation density was 17.1 people per square mile (6.6/km²). There were 364 housing units at an average density of 6.9/sq mi (2.7/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 99.00% White, 0.22% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.11% Asian, and 0.56% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.56% of the population.There were 331 households out of which 36.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.0% were married couples living together, 6.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.5% were non-families. 19.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.12.
In the town the population was spread out with 28.2% under the age of 18, 5.2% from 18 to 24, 29.3% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 13.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 94.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.2 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $40,000, and the median income for a family was $43,611. Males had a median income of $22,440 versus $22,708 for females. The
