Established in 1991, the HKUST Business School is the business and management school of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in Hong Kong. It is the first business school in the region to be awarded accreditation by both the US-based Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) and European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS).

Accreditation and reputation

HKUST Business School has been ranked by The Financial Times among the top business schools in Asia and Australia in their annual global MBA rankings since 2001. In 2007, HKUST Executive MBA program, jointly organized with Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University, was ranked number 1 in the world. This is the first time an Asian based program has obtained a number 1 spot in an international survey. The paper also ranked HKUST Business School number 27 in the world – as well as best in Asia and Australia – 2004 and 2005 for the quality of executive programs offered.

HKUST MBA program has been ranked by the Financial Times at number 17 in the world in 2008. In 2007, it was ranked by another major international agency the Economist Intelligence Unit as number 1 in Asia and number 20 in the world.

In 2003, the Journal of the European Economic Association named HKUST Business School as number 1 in Economics research in Asia-Pacific.

HKUST Business School research has been ranked among top 20 in the world by the Financial Times in its 2008 MBA ranking. Finance research was recognized as number 1 in the region by the academic journal Financial Management in 2002. Marketing research was also ranked number 9 in the world based on publications in top journals from 2001-04.
