- Halesowen Joint Railway
The Halesowen Joint Railway was a British pre-grouping railway company that opened a six mile line in 1883 in the
Midlands . It later became ajoint railway owned by theMidland Railway and theGreat Western Railway .The line was closed in 1964. The former station at
Hunnington has been converted into a house and the other intermediate station atRubery has been demolished. A short section of the line remains at the southern end to serve the Longbridge motor plant although there has been no traffic since 1995. With the closure, and demolition of the MG Rover Longbridge factory the remaining stub of the Halesowen Railway is soon to be removed. At present (August 2008)the old Longbridge station building still exists, however it is reported in this months Railway Magazine that the old Longbridge signal box is to be demolished, and the remaining track from Halesowen Junction lifted very soon now.
