Jerry D. Roe (1936-) is the son of Howard and Ialene Roe. He graduated from Havre High School, Havre, Montana, in 1954, and went onto graduate from the University of Great Falls in 1958. In his fifty plus years of being actively involved in Republican Politics, Roe has advised many candidates for political office and held numerous board appointments at the gubernatorial and local level, most notability his work with the Michigan History Commission.

He is the father of Jason Roe (politician), a former chief of staff to United States Representative Tom Feeney and former deputy campaign manager of the 2008 presidential primary campaign of Mitt Romney.

Early Political Involvement

While at Great Falls, Jerry was the President of University’s Republican Club, the Chairman of the Cascade County Young Republicans, and the Chairman of the Montana Federation of Young Republican Clubs.

Roe is a former executive director of the Michigan Republican Party, a position he held for 10 years. He was a staff member to Garry Brown, a member of the United States House of Representatives.

Current Political Involvement

Jerry Roe now spends his time as an American Political Science teacher at Lansing Community College in Lansing, Michigan. He has been known to tell many stories during his instruction. Students under Roe leave the class with many wonderful political stories.

Roe supported John McCain’s Presidential run in 2000, as a member of his Michigan Steering Committee. He was elected in August 2008 at Michigan Republican State Convention as Presidential Elector for John McCain in the 7th Congressional District.

Jerry has been active with Michigan Representative Rick Jones , District 71, since Jones' race for Sheriff. Roe is listed as Representative Jones' Campaign Coordinator for his District 24, State Senate race. Additionally, Jerry remains an influential political insider, actively recruiting, advising, and teaching Republican candidates at the State and local level.
