EBU page = http://www.eurovision.tv/index/main?page=67&country=32Although Poland did not become member of theEuropean Broadcasting Union until 1993, the Eurovision Song Contest was often broadcast onTelewizja Polska (TVP), the Polish broadcaster - even if delayed.Edyta Górniak 's first ever performance for Poland in the contest in 1994 is also by far the most successful for Poland as of yet. Poland was almost disqualified that year though as Edyta sang the chorus in English in the rehearsals.Following entries were less successful, but often very favored by the fans of the contest. Not until 2003, did Poland organize a public selection and then it was no surprise when the groupIch Troje won the public vote ahead of Blue Café (favored by the fans). By 2005 though, TVP went back to an internal selection. "Czarna dziewczyna" was a multilingual song, performed in Polish and Russian languages.2006 saw a comeback of a public selection in Poland's TVP. Ich Troje won the selection again, but could not repeat their 7th place from 2003, and just missed out of a place in the final of the 2006 contest, coming 11th in the semi-final. Their 2007 entry was "Time To Party ", sung byThe Jet Set . They however only finished 14th in the Semi-final, leaving Poland once more outside the final. 2008, however, marked the return of Poland to a Eurovision final when their entry, "For Life", sung byIsis Gee , which qualified for the final from the first semifinal. However, the voting procedure has been criticised by many Polish newspaper, many asking for Poland's withdrawal from the contest. TVP have stated thst they are considering withdrawal from Eurovision, pending on any new voting changes that the EBU are considering. The fact that Poland won the 2008 Eurovision Dance Contest and is evaluating whether to host next year's edition is also a factor in TVP's decision to withdraw.
