Renovations

In May 2004, the then-principal, Mr Leong Chee Kong announced that the school will undergo the Programme for Rebuilding and IMproving Existing schools (PRIME) at the cost of S$4 million, to improve the almost old and run-down school, which had not had any major renovations prior. Leong also said that this program was implemented to meet the latest standards, in order to provide a conducive learning environment for the pupils. The original plan was to demolish the old school hall building for a new, bigger one on the existing site, as there were criticisms on the fact that the school hall is very small, and many pupils had to bear the squeeze, especially in the morning session, as well as to intensively upgrade the old school buildings. However, prior to 2006, MOE planned to merge Jin Tai Primary School with QPS. The final plan was now to demolish the car park and build 2 new classroom blocks. It was completed in January 2008, just in time for the merger.

The upgrades was done in 3 phrases:
*1st Phrase (Dec 2005 - Nov 2006)The 1st phrase started in December 2005 and was completed in November 2006. Half of the school field, which was claimed to be one of the largest in Singapore for primary school, was demolished to make way for the new school. Because of this, a former CCA, soccer, was removed due to the remaining small field. The phrase consists of 1, narrow 2 stories link to the new school hall & canteen. Also, the remaining 10% of the field was again demolished to make way for a temporary car park.

*2nd Phrase (Dec 2006 - Sep 2007)The 2nd phrase was: Demolish the existing car park and build 2 new classroom blocks. The 2nd phrase started on December 2006 and was completed in September 2007. As the car park was demolished, the new temporary car park could not take in buses due to space constraints. So, the buses was forced to stop at the school gate, and when it rains, this is a trouble as there is no shelter.

*3rd Phrase (Sep 2007 - Jan 2008)The 3rd phrase consists of refurbishment of 4 old classroom blocks. It started in September 2007 and completed in January 2008.

Overall, the PRIME started on December 2005 and was completed in January 2008, a period of 2 years. A ISH(Indoor School Hall) was planned, but it is currently in proposal stages.
