Jig-Ai are a goregrind band, who hail from the Czech Republic. They are notable in the extreme metal underground for their use of over the top imagery and lyrics.

Musical Style

Jig-Ai play a rather heavy style of goregrind, mixing the old school goregrind genre with various other styles, such as brutal death metal. The most notable characteristics of the band's music is the frequent use of both blast beat drum patterns and D-beat drum patterns, heavily pitch-shifted squeals and death growls, down tuned guitars and bass, as well as incorporating groovy breakdowns into various songs.

Lyrics/Imagery

Jig-Ai is also unique in the way that their lyrics and imagery are rather unusual in the grindcore/goregrind scene. They frequently use ero guro, a style of hentai in which females are featured being mutilated and dismembered, in both their lyrics and imagery. The band's name actually refers to Jigai, a form of ritual suicide performed by women in Japan.
