Rafe Joseph Spall (born 10 March 1983) is an English actor.

He landed an agent after he was spotted in a National Youth Theatre production of "Nicholas Nickleby" and has since appeared on TV and the stage, and in films such as "The Calcium Kid" (2004) and "Hot Fuzz" (2007), as well as appearing in the "Grindhouse (film)" (2007) segment "Don't". He has also worked with the band Arkane.

In 2004, he appeared in the film "Shaun Of The Dead", and later in 2005, played football hooligan Swill in "Green Street" alongside Charlie Hunnam.

In 2007's "A Room with a View" he played George Emerson opposite his real life father actor Timothy Spall as George's father.

Background

Spall was born in East Dulwich, London, England. He was named after the title character in "The Knight of the Burning Pestle" which his father played in the Royal Shakespeare Company's 1981 production of the play, and which Rafe himself played in 2005.
