Lander Configurations

Lander Configurations

The Lander Configurations are a five piece ambient post-rock band from Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, consisting of four musicians and one animator/projectionist.

Formed in late 2003, the band underwent a number of line-up changes before playing its inaugural show in February 2006.

The Lander Configurations perform music that can be described as cinematic soundscapes that range from ambient minimalism to climatic walls of sound. The repertoire of the band consists of about half instrumental songs and half songs with singing.

The band's live show is based around combining music with vision and usually contains colourful projections and animations; the band's aim is to create a full sensory experience for the audience.

The Lander Configurations draw comparisons to such international contemporary bands as Sigur Rós, Mogwai, Mono, and Explosions in the Sky.

Early in 2008 the band started put live performances on hold to start recording for its debut album. 5 months of pre-production led the band into recording sessions in mid July in Sydney at Big Jesus Burger Studios with engineer Berkfinger. As of August 2008 production work for the album is continuing in Newcastle at The Institute studio with engineer Calf of Hauntingly Beautiful Mousemoon fame.
