Episode recap

Jon, Garfield and Odie go on a vacation car trip to Cryptic Manor, which, according to Jon, is a real haunted house for tourists to visit. When they arrive, they are greeted by a guard who informs that Cryptic Manor had been closed for years. Jon decides to rent a room at a motel across the road.

Jon goes inside to take a nap, leaving Garfield on the porch, in charge of Odie. Garfield quickly falls asleep. Odie sees a bat flying towards the manor, and follows it. Garfield wakes up and, seeing Odie gone, also runs inside the manor.

Inside, Garfield is chased by an apparently robotic, Frankenstein-like monster. Eventually, he finds Odie and they escape. Jon wakes up, and they arrive back to the motel just in time. When Jon inquires them of their fear, they explain that they went over to Cryptic Manor. Jon takes them with him, to prove that "there's nothing to be afraid of". When they arrive, they see a skyscraper being built in place of the manor. Jon asks one of the builders where Cryptic Manor went. The builder says it was torn down years ago. Jon, Odie and Garfield hurriedly jump into their red sedan and drive away. The builder then peels off his face, and is revealed to be the guard that greeted them at the beginning of the episode.

Notes

* When Garfield slides down the pole, one of the floors he passes through shows a screenshot from "U.S. Acres"; the other shows the creator of Garfield, Jim Davis, in a cat suit.

Goofs

*The guard's arms return to their original colour before he takes off his builder's suit.

Quotes

Guard: No, no, no, Cryptic Manor has been closed for years. Jon: But I heard tourists used to go in. Guard:They did "go" in. They just didn't come "out"!

Garfield: That's right, we're on vacation! I think I'll just sleep and eat all day. It'll be a nice change.

Garfield: Odie? Echo: Odie, Odie, Odie... Garfield: Where are you?"' Echo: Where are you, where are you, where are you... Garfield: Garfield the Cat is the greatest creature in the world! Echo: No chance, no way, no how, no nothing. Garfield: Boy, I hate an echo that ad-libs.

" [Garfield, Odie and Jon drive away] " Guard: " [Takes off his builder's mask] " That's the ninth one this week, and it's only Tuesday!
