Keohohiwa was a Hawaiian chiefess and great-grandmother of
David Kalakaua andLiliuokalani .Her father was
Keawe-a-Heulu the chief warrior and councillor ofKamehameha the Great , assisting him in overthrowing his cousinKiwalaʻo and uniting the eight separate islands of Hawaii into one nation. Her motherUlulani , was the 7th "ali'i " ofHilo and the most celebrated poetess of her days. Her brother was Naihe the councillor and chief orator of Kamehameha the Great and husband of the Christian chiefess Kapiolani I who deified the goddess Pele. She married the ChiefKepo-o-kalani son ofKameʻeiamoku , one of the royal twins. She had one son'Aikanaka from her husband.
